Video sculpture
Video projection, videotape (3min., B&W, sound), video player, leather suitcase
A video is projected into a suitcase. The source image is the well-known photo depicting Anna and Sigmund Freud in 1938, looking out of a train window on the occasion of their emigration. Layerings, blurring and superimpositions set the picture in motion. One can hear the rhythmic sounds of a moving train, from the inside of a compartment.
The video sculpture Koffer was originally designed for the project Kunst: Die ½ Miete [art: ½ the rent]. For a period of one month, private households hosted a work of art and opened their apartments to the public at certain times of the day.
The work depicts the exhibitions' concept of the abolition of protection zones.
